Should "World Peace" be Imposed?

I agree with what Chandler wrote about Kennan's piece. It seemed Kennan base many of his arguments on broad assumptions about Russian culture. Although the Kennan reading was probably the most blatantly provocative portion of tonight's homework, Lippman's article is the reading which interested me most out of our assignment. His analysis of America's failures in diplomacy led me to recognize major faults within idealistic ways of thinking and led me to evaluate missions of the United Nations and other international coalitions in a new light. I especially found his belief that struggle between nations was the worlds natural state to be interesting, and that America should not be focused on trying to impose policies geared towards preventing this conflict. Lippman believed that by shifting the mindset of American policymakers would make the United States better equipped to practically handle its advantageous position in order to attain positive results from its international policy, whatever they may be.
