What Comes Next?

I found the Howard University commencement speech to be particularly interesting. Much of what was said reminded me of conversations surrounding race that we have today. Specifically, the comparison between  "white poverty" and "black poverty" brought to my attention the inequality of opportunity present today, and highlighted where perhaps much of the confusion arises when dealing with racial issues. It also allowed me to consider what additional support must be given to the black population who had been oppressed for hundreds of years. Going back to the reading, however, I think that the speaker does an excellent job of emphasizing that the fight for Civil Rights is not yet over and that equality does not end with equal voting rights.
